One Year Check-In
Damn
It’s insane to think that a year ago today, we were launching Groundswell at Sunset Grill and Tap in Allston. A ton of awesome people came out to help two ambitious kids kick off a long shot, at best, of an idea. Flash forward and here we are: Backlash can now be found in all corners of Massachusetts and we’ve launched another two beers to accompany our flagship. I truly feel like the beers are getting better with each release as I learn the intricacies of scaling up recipes from our pilot system to our production system. With some luck, we’ll be getting access to ingredients in our second year that we wouldn’t have had access to otherwise (Sam Adams is helping us out with some Citra and Simcoe hops) and make some even more kick ass beers.
I know I say it a lot on this blog, but seriously everyone — thank you all so much for the support along the way. We are nothing — literally nothing — without the support of people who buy our beer and believe in our vision. We owe everyone a token of gratitude for this first year…
Which brings me to my next point: Our anniversary bottles.
Here’s the deal:
The beer in the bottle is the same Convergence we’ve always offered
We just wanted to do something cool to show everyone how grateful we are for the past year*
Moral of the story is: We mixed in 212 anniversary bottles among several thousand bottles that we are shipping across the state. You’ll notice the bottles pretty easily, as they are all dipped in gold wax (versus the normal silver dip that Convergence gets). We know it’s not much, and we owe you all so much more, but there’s a little message on each bottle as a small thank you to those who have supported us from the start.
In looking back at what we got done in year one, I’m really proud. We definitely stumbled at times, and will likely stumble a bunch more — but we still did more than I thought we could do. I’m legitimately very excited for what this next year has in store for us. We’re one year older, one year wiser, but still have that fresh sense of ambition that we set out with last late July.
Thanks again people, now let’s take it from the top and blow the doors off this bitch.
Cheers!
H
